The ingredients needed to prepare Falafel:

  1. Provide 150 gms of chickpeas.
  2. You need 5 cloves of garlic.
  3. Prepare 1 of onion.
  4. You need 1 of green chilli.
  5. Get 1 handful of parsley/coriander leaves.
  6. You need 1 tsp of coriander powder.
  7. Take 1 tsp of cumin powder.
  8. Get 3/4 tsp of salt.
  9. You need 4 cups of oil for deep frying.

Steps to make Falafel:

  1. Soak chickpeas overnight. Next morning wash the chickpeas and grind coarsely in the food processor or grinder. Take out in a bowl.
  2. Grind the onion, garlic, chilli and parsley in the food processor/mini chopper and add to the ground chickpeas. Then add salt, chilli powder, cumin powder and coriander powder. Mix well with soft hands.
  3. Then heat oil in a kadhai. Let it heat completely and then lower the flame. Make small tikkis with the falafel mix and add to the heated oil. Fry till both sides are nice golden in colour. Serve hot with pita bread or simply homemade rotis, salad and Yoghurt dip. I have made small chapatis for serving..
